guerilla-art.mx

guerilla-art.mx is a German-Mexican street art collective consisting of street artists and filmmakers founded by Yescka in 2011. Born from the wish to spread intercultural art the collective has successfully organized project trips, exhibitions, and has contributed to numerous street art festivals. (Mexico, Germany, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, and Spain).
These art projects look critically at our society and questions it. The observer is called upon to actively consider issues and injustices, thus preventing him from becoming a mere consumer. Fruitful collaborations with local artists and its film documentation play a central role in travelling with the guerilla-art.mx collective.

guerilla-art.mx- The Documentary

The documentary Guerilla-art.mx shows how Yescka works with his art collective ASARO in Oaxaca and demonstrates how their art develops into an expression of the Oaxaca resistance. The film gives insight into the cultural context of guerilla-art.mx and follows the history of ASARO from their beginnings in 2006. The documentary will not be released on the Internet to protect the personal safety of the protagonists; as a result it will only be shown per request. If you have an interest in showing the documentary please contact Galeria Soldout.

La ultima Cena

Woodcut / Stencil 2012

La ultima cena mexicana - Yescka 2012

The Apostles represents a part of Mexico’s political, economic and religious elite. The most powerful among them is a well-known drug boss in Jesus’ place. The others are gathered around him, begging for his recognition. They are all sitting at one table, distributing the power among each other. Their thirst for power makes them devour their values, such as freedom and justice, represented by the head of Benito Juárez in the center of the table. They have abused their responsibilities which were given to them from the people.

Yescka's La ultima cena has become a popular image in Mexico. The Museum of Oaxaca showed a large version of it as part of the "Hecho en Oaxaca" exhibit together with pieces from other famous street artists such as Date Farmers, Dr. Lakra, How & Nosm, Lapiztola, MOMO, Nunca, Retna, Saner, StenLex, Swoon and Vhils
